Scott Shenker

Scott Shenker spent his academic youth studying theoretical physics but soon gave up chaos theory for computer science. Continuing to display a remarkably short attention span, his research over the years has wandered from performance modeling and networking to game theory and economics. Unable to focus on any single topic, his current research projects include software-defined networking, network function virtualization, data analytics, and Internet architecture. Unable to hold a steady job, he currently splits his time between the U. C. Berkeley Computer Science Department and the International Computer Science Institute.

Hey everyone! I'm a Master's student from Saratoga, CA. I'm advised by Pieter Abbeel and focus in Deep RL and transfer learning, but this is my second semester teaching 168 since I've enjoyed this class a lot! In my free time, I like following sports (basketball, football), playing video games (CS:GO), blowing more money on PC upgrades, and competing in archery.

Hello! I'm a fourth year EECS and Music major. I grew up in upstate New York and finished high school in Kentucky. On campus, you'll see me playing violin in the UC Berkeley Symphony. My favorite restaurant was Eatsa, until it closed. Networks are awesome, and so is this class. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

What's up everyone? I'm an EECS Masters student hailing from the Great White North where the most political topic is who's going to win the Stanley Cup this year - always Maple Leafs. My favourite academic topics are Security, Privacy, and Networking (duuh) but favourite everyday topics involve deep conversations about traveling, sports, and how much cheese is too much cheese (spoiler - the limit does not exist). I'm super stoked for this semester and look forward to many off topic discussions!

Hey! I’m a fourth year computer science major from Chicago-ish. As far as computer science goes, I’ve found that I’m at least a little bit interested in pretty much everything. My hobbies include browsing Wikipedia, cooking, baking bread, eating, losing to people at chess, and starting side projects (but rarely finishing them) — one time I wrote a NES emulator!

I was born in Mexico, but I've now lived in San Diego and then Berkeley for over half my life, so I'm firmly American now (as my cousins like to rag on me about). I'm a fourth year EECS student here at Berkeley, and when I'm not TAing, studying, or manning the Peer Advisor desk at ESS, I'm probably procrastinating on one of the three by reading fiction (current one is Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb) or playing video games (currently finishing off Fire Emblem Fates). Please do recommend books and/or games!

Other than scrolling through memes and watching endless amounts of YouTube, I spend my time honing my internal dog radar, yelling at friends over board games, and pretending I know how to bake. If you see me on campus and I don't say hi, I promise I'm not ignoring you; I'm just still invested in Pokemon Go.
